Obituary of Mildred Sheehan

Mildred H. (Griffin) Sheehan, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away at the Exeter on Hampton Health Care Center on Sunday evening, May 9, 2010. The wife of the late Walter D. Sheehan and the late Melvin Brungot, she was 86 years old. Mildred was born in Woodlawn, VA. She was one of seven children born to the late John and Elva Griffin. She was raised and educated in Virginia and moved to Burlington in the early 1950’s. Mildred led a full and active life. Along with bringing up her five children she found time to volunteer for a number of organizations. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Veterans Hospital in Bedford. She was an active Girl Scout volunteer for many years. She also worked as a school aide at the Meadowbrook school in Burlington. Mildred was a longtime active member of the American Legion and the DAV Auxiliaries, in Burlington. Mildred was an avid walker and would be seen walking throughout the town of Burlington. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was blessed to live a life that spanned 86 years that were filled with many happy times. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Walter D. Sheehan and the late Melvin Brungot. She was the loving mother of Ronald Brungot & his wife Wanda of VA, Arthur Brungot of Kingston, NH, Dennis Sheehan & his wife Karen of Chelmsford, Daniel Sheehan & his wife Stacey of Houston, TX and Julia McHugh & her husband Robert of Billerica. Sister of John A. Griffin of VA, Joseph H. Griffin and Howard C. Griffin of OH, Ray L. Griffin, Laura O. Bowman & Marvin J. Griffin all of VA. Also survived by 13 grand children & 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 60 Forest Park Rd., Woburn on Thursday, May 13 at 10 a.m. Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15 p.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in Mildred’s name may be made to the American Red Cross of Massachusetts, 139 Main St., Cambridge, MA 02142 & The Girls Scouts of Eastern Mass, 95 Berkeley St., Suite 404, Boston, MA 02116.
