I knew Philomena as a young girl in 1956. We both worked at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston. One cold and rainy Saturday Philomena's Dad took her and I to a very historical site. It was the recently closed Charlestown prison. It was quite deserted and very ancient. We were able to walk thru the cells, the grounds, the old greenhouse. I recall it was built of large stones and the great wall surrounding was imposing and seemed sinister. I appreciate that I had the privilege to be taken on this tour. I often thought of Philomena over these 55 years. She was a wonderful pal. I did an internet search and came up with her obituary and HER PICTURE. Her warmth and goodness showed in her sweet and joyful face.
My condolences to her loved ones...you were blessed to have her in your life.
