Obituary of Leah Stella O'Shea

Leah S. (Gurskis) O’Shea passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday morning, July 2, 2006. The wife of John F. O’Shea, Sr. she was 66 years old. Mrs. O’Shea was born in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late John Gurskis. After graduating from High School she joined the United States Navy and became a member of the WAVES. She served in the Navy for 3 years working as a secretary. While still in the Navy she met and married her husband John. They settled in Somerville for a short time and then moved to Medford. They eventually moved to Burlington in 1972 where they raised their 7 children. Mrs. O’Shea worked part-time for over 21 years at “Soap & Suds” in Burlington. She enjoyed bowling and belonged to leagues in Burlington and Woburn for over 20 years. Mrs. O’Shea’s family was most important to her. She devoted her life to making a home for her husband and 7 children. As a family they enjoyed taking trips together to places such as Disney in Florida. After her husband John retired they would travel for up to six weeks at a time visiting spots throughout the United States. Mrs. O’Shea is the beloved wife of John F. O’Shea, Sr. Loving mother of John F. O’Shea Jr. & his wife JoAnn of Methuen, Michael O’Shea & his wife Laura of Jacksonville, FL, Jeremiah O’Shea & his wife Andria of Billerica, Helenmarie & her husband Kevin Galvin of Billerica, Cheryl & her husband Michael Johnson of Billerica, Joseph O’Shea of Burlington, and James O’Shea of Burlington. Sister of Joseph Demers of Revere and the late John Gurskis. Also survived by 13 grandchildren. Dear friend of Barbara Younie of Billerica. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, July 7 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
