Obituary of Elizabeth Iannacci
Elizabeth M. Iannacci, a resident of Burlington for almost 65 years, passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, May 22, 2010. She was 89 years old. Betty was born in Boston the daughter of the late Francis and Ellen O’Brien. She grew up and was educated in Dorchester. She married her husband Angelo “Nick” after he returned from WW II and they settled in Burlington.
Betty was an extremely independent woman and carefully balanced working and being a homemaker. She had worked as a technician at serveral electronic companies in the Burlington area. In her retirement years, she spent working across the street from her home at the Winn Street Laundromat. She eventually stopped working at the Laundromat when she hit her mid 80’s. She loved being productive and busy and never shied away from hard work. She also assisted in running her husband’s companies, Winnmere Taxi and Burlington Taxi. She could juggle a baby and act as the dispatcher with ease. She also excelled as a homemaker. She was a great cook and made great Irish and Italian meals for her husband and family. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a long time member of the quilting class at the Burlington Recreation Department. She has quilted and gifted countless family heirlooms, which will always remind the benefactors of her. She was always happiest in her home with her family.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Angelo “Nick” Iannacci. She was the loving mother of MaryEllen Costa & her husband Frank of Woburn and Michael of Burlington. She was the sister of Francis O’Brien of CA, Rhoda Coakley of Roslindale, the late James O’Brien, Margaret Marenghi, Catherine MacEachern, Helen Bradfield, & Josephine Brooks. She was the proud grandmother of KeriLynne Anderson, Brian Costa, Christopher Costa, Kaitlyn Costa, Michelle Iannacci, and Lisa Iannacci. She was the great grandmother of Zachary Anderson.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, May 25 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington, at Noon. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
