Obituary of Robert Chamberlain

Robert J. Chamberlain lost his 2 year battle with leukemia at the Tufts New England Medical Center on Thursday afternoon, May 27, 2010. He was 74 years old. Robert was born in Woburn, the son of the late George and Mildred Chamberlain. While in high school he met and dated Carole Strozzi. They graduated from Woburn High School in 1954 and where married on May 11, 1958. Bob attended Salem State for 2 years and transferred and graduated from Boston University. From 1969 to 1972 he had worked in Florida for Eastern Airlines. Other than those years, he had always made Woburn his home. He had worked for over 30 years in the Accounting Department of Raytheon in Andover. After his retirement in 2000, he worked one day a week at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Stoneham. Robert had strong roots in Woburn. He was a founding member of the City Club in Woburn. He was a member of the Woburn Elks. He enjoyed staying in shape. He often jogged around Horn Pond. He was an active member of the Woburn YMCA. He enjoyed working out, but also socializing with his many friends at the club. Robert had vacationed all over the world with his wife and family. He had a warm and welcoming home and loved being surrounded by his family and friends. Robert was the beloved husband of Carole E. (Strozzi) Chamberlain. He was the loving father of Robert V. Chamberlain & his wife Glynis Cooney of Amesbury, Carolyn Thompson & her husband Rodney of Pelham, NH, and the late Lisa M. Chamberlain and father-in-law of Hector Sequeira of Woburn. He was brother of James of NV, and the late Diane Carnavale. He was the proud grandfather of Ian & Gareth Chamberlain, Joshua Thompson, and Gopal & Vrinda Kamath. He was the special uncle of Sharon Abreu of Reading. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Wednesday, June 2 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Arrangements by the Edward V.
