Obituary of Paul Nee

Paul Francis Nee retired owner of “Happy Paul’s” & Freeport Radiator, Dorchester passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Tuesday afternoon, June 29, 2010. He was 66 years old. Paul was born and raised in South Boston. He was a graduate of Charlestown High School. He worked at Harvard Medical School running the labs for many notable Doctors doing research studies. In 1978, he decided to start his own business, Freeport Radiator, in Dorchester. The business expanded to include a gas station and a small variety store. He was well ahead of the trend of incorporating a store with a gas station. He was passionate about his business and often worked 7 days a week. He was a fixture in the community and often had his children pitching in to run the store. He placed his families needs above his own and worked long hours to be a good provider for his wife and children. He sold the business in 1994. Paul was a past member of the Boston Gun Club. He was a member and officer of the Old Colony Yacht Club in Dorchester. He enjoyed boating and deep sea fishing. Summer vacations were often spent on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. He enjoyed traveling with Las Vegas being one of his favorite destinations. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. He was always up for a good game of cribbage. He loved being around his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered. Paul was the beloved husband of husband of Elizabeth (Shanahan) Nee. He was the loving father of Dr. Paul Nee & his wife Maureen of Southbury, CT, Jason Nee of Woburn, and Deborah Nee & John Bouthiller of Medford. Brother of Louise Nelson of Halifax, Lorraine Garrity of Pembroke, Thomas of Taunton, Robert of AZ, Michael of Westford, and Daniel of Halifax. He was also survived by 6 grandchildren. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, July 2 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 11 a.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorials in Paul’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
