Obituary of Eleanor Griffin
Eleanor M. (Tartaglia) Griffin, passed away at her home with her daughter Darlene by her side, on Friday morning August 24, 2012. The beloved wife of the late Robert P. Griffin, she was 80 years old.
Eleanor was born, raised and educated in Somerville. She was one of 10 children born to Italian immigrants the late Cosmo and Maria Tartaglia. Eleanor’s life revolved around her home and her family. She was a wonderful cook with her Italian Sauces being her specialty! She loved her home and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Eleanor and her daughter Darlene had a wonderful relationship. They weren’t just mother and daughter they were friends. They travelled together and visited such destinations as Florida, traveling up the coast of the United States into Mexico as well as a recent family vacation with the Flaherty family to the Dominican Republic. Eleanor was also a die-hard Red Sox fan. Eleanor was blessed to live a life that spanned 80 years surrounded by a loving family.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Robert P. Griffin. Eleanor was the devoted and proud mother Darlene Griffin on Burlington. Sister of Lucy Fazio, Ann Tartaglia & Dora Ascolillo of Somerville and the late Rose Puglia, Joseph, Michael, Gabriel, Cosmo & Teddy Tartaglia. Loving aunt of Sheila Flaherty & her husband Donald of Burlington. Great Aunt & “Grandmother” of Christopher Flaherty of Burlington. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St,. BURLINGTON at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
