Obituary of Edwina Ganley
Edwina E. (Marvin) Ganley, a loving wife, mother, and Nana, passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday morning, September 21, 2010. She was 78 years old.
Edwina was born in Rutland, Vermont, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lina Marvin. Her family moved from Vermont to Burlington when she was a child. She graduated from Burlington High School. She met Warren Ganley, and they were married in 1954. They had 5 sons and a daughter. She had worked as a nurse’s aid and customer service agent when she was younger, but preferred being a homemaker. She was a loving and supportive wife, a caring, understanding, and watchful mother, and a proud Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edwina was a life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Burlington American Legion Post 273. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Burlington Council on Aging. She loved dancing, crocheting, and Bingo. She treasured sharing the holidays with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the Fourth of July Celebrations and the Annual Ganley Family Outings. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Edwina was the beloved wife of the late Warren P. Ganley. She was the loving mother of Warren Ganley, Jr. of NH, Ernest & his wife Rose of Chelmsford, Thomas & his wife Marjory of West Melbourne, FL, Lina Chinappi & her husband Ralph of Billerica, George & his wife Laura of Vine Grove, KY, and Scott & his wife Elizabeth of Nashua, NH. She was the sister of Charles Marvin of Fl, Harold Marvin of Radcliffe, KY, the late Ernest and Cynthia Marvin. She was also survived by 16 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Edwina’s name may be made to the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, Alzheimer’s Unit, 80 Boston Road, Billerica, MA 01862.
