Obituary of Carlo Memmolo
Carlo P. “Carl” Memmolo, retired President of General Aluminum, passed away after a long illness at his home on Monday afternoon, October 4, 2010. He was 80 years old.
Carl was born in Boston the son of the late Carlo and Alvina Memmolo. He grew up and was educated in Dorchester. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Franklin Technical Institute. He served in the in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. His was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi and was a Radar Instructor. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a Master Draftsman and worked his way to become the President of General Aluminum Corporation in Woburn, which manufactured doors and windows. Carl was one who enjoyed giving of himself to others. In his retirement years, he was a volunteer for 15 years at the Lahey Clinic in the Oncology Department. He was a longtime member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He assisted in Boat Safety Classes and was a vessel examiner in the North Shore coast communities. He was an avid boater. His boat, “One More Time” was docked at the Danversport Yacht Club, where Carl had many boating friends. He was a huge Patriots fan. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Mary. He was a loving father, enjoyed working with his son, Carl, and sharing his enthusiasm for boating and life.
Carl was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Eveline) Memmolo. He was the loving father of Carl and his wife Cindy of Andover, NH and James of Burlington. He was the brother of Gloria Palazzo & her husband Fred of Woburn and Antoinette “Anne” Parisi & her late husband Angelo “Bud.” He was the grandfather of Adam of Warner, NH and Tammy of Franklin, NH and great-grandfather of Toni and Alex.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday October 9 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
