Obituary of Walter Marshall

Walter B. Marshall died peacefully at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Wilmington at the age of 90 on October 21, 2010. A long time resident of Burlington and formerly of Cambridge, Mr. Marshall was a World War II veteran, serving in Papua, New Guinea. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He had gone to school for cartography. He worked for Raytheon as a machinist for many years. He enjoyed photography, working on his electronics and computers and the company of his four cats and the many birds he fed. Mr. Marshall was the beloved son of the late Mary and Bernard Marshall. He was the loving brother of Dorothy Talalas of Burlington, Robert & his wife Millie of Stoughton, MA and the late Virginia Marshall and Ruth di Bettencourt. Mr. Marshall is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 – 11 a.m. Followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Concluding with Military Honors. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the MSPCA 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
