Obituary of Julia Pergamo
Julia E. Pergamo, a homemaker and resident of Burlington for 51 years passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday morning, October 26, 2010. She was 90 years old.
Julia was born in Woodbridge, New Jersey, the daughter of the late John and Julia Sedlak. She was raised and educated in Woodbridge, NJ. She was 9 years old when the Great Depression began and she lived teenage years during some of the darkest days of United States history. Julia went to work as a teenager to help her family endure the terrible economic times. She would meet her husband John Pergamo and they would eventually settle in Burlington in 1959 to raise their 2 daughters. She was a homemaker, always watching out for her husband and daughters. She took great pride in her home. Julia was a great cook and kitchen was always filled with delicious aromas and delicacies. During the 1970’s she and her husband tried their hands at owning and operating a Motel in Gloucester called Spruce Manor. They met some wonderful guests from all over New England and had the opportunity to host their daughter’s wedding at the resort. In her later years, she enjoyed spending the summers in Dennisport on Cape Cod. Her family would go to the beach and she was happy spending her time in her kitchen preparing the evenings dinner. She enjoyed candlepin bowling, crosswords, and television game shows like, Jeopardy. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother. Julia will be remembered for care, warmth, and love she showed her family and friends.
Julia was the beloved wife of the late John J. Pergamo. She was the loving mother of Carolyn Snook & her husband Robert of Ft. Collins, CO and Judi Lichtenfels & her husband Robert of Burlington. She was predeceased by her siblings; Irene Meszaros, John and Andrew Sedlak. Loving grandmother of Nicole Bargren & her husband Andrew of Fort Collins CO, Jonathan Lichtenfels & his wife Melissa of Atlanta, GA, and Erin Lichtenfels of Lakeville & her fiancé Jonathan Harris. Great Grandmother of Ryden & Tanner Bargren and Hayden & Connor Lichtenfels.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, October 29 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
