Obituary of Clifford Boudrot

Clifford T. Boudrot II, a resident of Lancaster, MA, formerly of Newton, Burlington, Winchester and Rockport, and member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 17, passed away at the Bedford VA Medical Center on October 31. He was 83 years old. He was the son of Clifford T. and Sylvia (Kelly) Boudrot. Better known to his friends and family as Bud, he was born and raised in Newton. After graduating from Newton High School, Bud joined the Navy. He served in the Philippines, China, Hawaii and Guam. He was stationed aboard the USS Coasters Harbor AG-74 and in 1946 witnessed the first atom bomb test at Bikini, Marshall Islands. He also served on the USS Salisbury Sound AV-13. After returning home, Bud began a five-year apprenticeship training with Sheet Metal Workers Local 17. He traveled extensively throughout the country primarily working on power plants in Louisiana, Minnesota, Texas, Oklahoma and all of the New England states. During his career he honed his copper cornice skills at places like Harvard College and the Christian Science Church. After his retirement he realized his lifelong dream of designing and building a home by the ocean. From 1996-1998 he handcrafted the home’s copper gutters and downspouts, a standing-seam copper roof and a copper copula. He added his handmade copper lanterns and at age seventy he roofed the house with Vermont slate. Bud passion's were his work, sailing, gardening, playing hockey and collecting antiques. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Fay (Carroll), his daughters Patricia of Quincy, Michele Gray and her husband Ken of Stow, Paulette of Stow, Andrea of Marblehead and his son, Clifford III of Reading. Grandfather of Shannon Gray of Glenville, NY, Evan Gray of Portsmouth, NH and Colin Driscoll of Stow. Brother of Donald and his wife Rose of Upton, and Chocorua, NH, Robert of Waltham. Also survived by his aunt Doris Bergen of Sudbury. He also leaves his nieces and many cousins. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Darlene and brother Jack. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 14 from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Café Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St. (Route 3A) Burlington, MA.
