Obituary of Lorena DiFelice

Lorena “Rena” Georgianna (Wood) DiFelice, a resident of Burlington for 34 years, passed away at her home on Tuesday evening, January 25, 2011. The beloved wife of Cesideo A. “Andy” DiFelice, she was 78 years old. Lorena was born in Portland, Maine. She was one of 10 children born to the late Charles and Mildred Wood. Rena lived in Portland Maine until she was 16 years old. Her family then moved to Massachusetts and she lived in Cambridge and Charlestown. She relished Charlestown’s way of life, but as her family was growing she and her husband Andy decided to move to the suburb of Burlington to raise their family. Rena was very proud of her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her home was filled with warmth, understanding, music, dancing, laughter, and the aromas of homemade Italian dishes. She loved to share her cooking talent with her family and friends. Before her family was done with a meal, she was already seeking requests and preparing the family’s next meal. Her home, especially her kitchen, was an expression of her love, concern, and thoughtfulness for her loved ones. In her free time she enjoyed walking, dancing, especially the “Jitterbug”, spending time with her Bingo friends, and testing her luck at Foxwoods. In her retirement years, she spent the winters in St. Pete Beach in Florida. She didn’t mind missing the snow and the extreme cold weather of New England. She was a member of the Italian Heritage Club in Portland, Maine and the Elks Lodge in St. Petersburg, Florida. She embraced life and will be lovingly remembered. Rena was the beloved wife of 60 years of Cesideo “Andy” DiFelice. She was the loving mother of C. Andrew DiFelice, Jr. & his wife Marie of Tewksbury, Charles W. DiFelice & his wife Denise of Lehigh Acres, FL, Robert DiFelice & his wife Allison of Tewksbury, and Lorena "e;Renie"e; Morneweck & her husband Richard of Burlington. She was the sister of Eleanor Applegate of OR, Linda Wells of KY, Kay Speed of FL, Shirley Walley of FL, Phyllis Sakay of ME, and the late Brenda Rundatz, Mary Ellen Phillips, Mildred Ramond, and Charles Wood. Rena was also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials in Rena’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
