Obituary of Mary Breda

Mary M. (MacDonald) Breda, a resident of Woburn for 48 years, passed away at the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital after a brief illness, on Monday afternoon, February 7, 2011. The wife of the late Woburn Patrolman Bruno E. Breda, she was 79 years old. Mary was born in Boston. She was the daughter of Canadian immigrants the late John and Josephine MacDonald. Mary was raised and educated in Newton. She graduated Sacred Heart School in Newton Center and then went on to graduate from St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Brighton. She had a successful career in Nursing working for Choate Hospital in Woburn and Beth Israel in Boston. Mary and her husband Bruno settled in Woburn in 1962 where they raised their four children. Mary had a great love for animals and supported the M.S.P.C.A along with a number of other charities related to animals. She loved the ocean and vacationing on Cape Cod. Mary enjoyed her home and her family whether it be entertaining family and friends, working in her yard and garden, or spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary leaves a wonderful legacy of family and will be missed. Mary is the beloved wife of the late Woburn Patrolman Bruno E. Breda. She was the loving mother of Jeanette Kimball & her husband Paul of Burlington, John Breda & his wife Phyllis of Stoneham, Stephen Breda & his wife Mary of Wakefield, and Laurie Doherty & her husband Tim of Woburn. Sister of Janet McCullough & her husband John of Burlington. Loving grandmother of Farrin & Jarrod Kimball, Taylor & Corie Doherty, Brian, Bridget, Brady & Peyton Breda. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 12 Noon. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the M.S.P.C.A., Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
