Obituary of Ronald Magliozzi

Ronald V. Magliozzi, a man whose life revolved around his family, passed away at his home on Sunday evening, February 13, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. The husband of 34 years of Elaine M. (MacLeod), he was 58 years old. Ron was born in Somerville. He was the son of the late Vincent and Mary Magliozzi. He was raised in the Winnmere section of Burlington where he made many lifelong friendships. Ron was a 1970 graduate of Burlington High School. He went on to have a successful career as owner of RV Tile and Floor Company. His clients truly appreciated his knowledge and craftsmanship. He spent the last 10 years of his career as a Facilities Manager at NMS Communications in Framingham. Ron’s ideals were those that were instilled upon him by his late parents, Vinnie and Mary Magliozzi which stressed the importance of providing a warm and loving home for your family, hard work and placing your family and friends first in your life. Ron and his wife Elaine were married 34 years ago and chose Townsend with its hometown feeling to raise their 5 children. He shared his passion for sports, boating, cars and woodworking with his family. He also embraced supporting their interests, goals and dreams. He coached his children in baseball and basketball. He was extremely active in the TAP Basketball Program, where he was a coach, referee and member of the Board of Directors. For a number of years he was responsible for the Third and Fourth Grade basketball program. Ron was an avid boater and fisherman and enjoyed spending time on Lake Potanipo in Brookline, NH and Long Lake in Maine. He was a talented woodworker and made crafts including Adirondack Chairs and bird houses. He also was a car enthusiast and was extremely proud of the restoration of his “Willy’s Jeep”. He endured a long battle with cancer with courage and dignity, never letting his illness get in the way of being the best husband and father he could be. He will be lovingly remembered by all his family and friends. Ron was the beloved husband of Elaine (MacLeod). He was the loving father of Ronald V. Jr., & his wife Jennifer of Leominster, Dennis & his wife Shannon of Dover, NH, Leiah, Dana and Jesse all of Townsend. He was the brother of Carole Gallagher & her husband Phil of Burlington, Jane Hutchinson & her husband Alan of Templeton, Susan Laracy & her husband Matt of Andover and Vincent E. & his wife Kim of W. Townsend. He was the proud grandfather of Rachel, Jacob & Tyler Magliozzi. A memorial wake will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Sat. Feb. 19 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. concluding with a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. A funeral luncheon will follow at the Burlington American Legion, 162 Winn St., Burlington. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
