James A. Wood, a resident of Billerica, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the age of 47. James was born to Rita and the late Lawrence Wood, in Malden MA on June 29, 1963. James graduated from Burlington High as a member of the class of 1981. He later went on to attend and graduate from Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts-Boston, earning two advanced degrees. He chose a life helping the less fortunate. He was a youth counselor, an advocate for the underprivileged, and a pastor. James was also a man of many talents; he was a part time teacher, a published poet, an inventor, and an entrepreneur. His greatest love was for his family. He was a venerated son to his mother, Rita Wood of Burlington and beloved brother to David of Tewksbury and Larry of Woburn, as well as a brother-in-law to Paula also of Woburn, He was a devoted uncle to his niece Courtney Wood of Nashua and his four nephews- David Wood of Nashua , and Larry, Kevin, and Paul Wood of Woburn. James was buried in a private service on February 23 at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Donations in James’ name may be made to People Helping People, PO Box 343, Burlington , MA 01803.
