Obituary of Paul Barnes

Paul V. Barnes, Jr., passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011. The husband of Nancy (Cole) he was 62 years old. Paul was born in Waltham. He was the son of the late Paul and Marie Barnes. He was raised and educated in Burlington graduating from Burlington High Class of 1966. He excelled in athletics while at BHS and was the Captain of the Football Team as well as the Wrestling Team and played on the Varsity Baseball Team. Paul went on to further his education graduating from U Mass Amherst. Paul had a successful career working for the Division of Employment Security in Woburn and Boston for over 25 years. He worked as a Claims Adjustor and then as a Computer Programmer. While working as a Computer Programmer he designed a program for claims processing. Paul had a love of sports and shared his enthusiasm with the youth of Burlington. He coached Pop Warner Football for many years as well as Babe Ruth Baseball. Paul had a friendly and easy going personality. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whether it be sharing a family dinner or taking a trip to Maine which was one of his favorite destinations. Paul was the beloved husband of Nancy (Cole). He was the loving brother of Robert M. & his wife Maureen of Woburn. Stepfather of Debbie Plunkett of Woburn. Grandfather of Marissa and Marlena. Uncle of Kelly Power & her husband Sean of Burlington, Sean and Kaitlin Barnes of Woburn. Great uncle of Lila and Aidan Power. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 851 Main St., Woburn on Saturday, March 12 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
