Obituary of Norma Walsh

Norma T. Walsh, a devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Sunday night, March 27, 2011. She was 76 years old. Norma was born in Somerville, the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late William and Christine Collins. She grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She was working as a telephone operator at New England Telephone when she met her future husband Robert J. Walsh. They married and eventually settled in Burlington in 1961. She was an incredible mother. She supported her children in all their activities and interests. She volunteered her time at Pine Glenn School. She was always in the stands for her sons baseball and hockey games. She took her children camping and shared her appreciation of the outdoors. She loved her vacation home on Sabbathday Pond in New Gloucester Maine. The cottage and lake were a special place to her and her family. Norma had worked as a technician at Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington. She was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed working around her home, yard work, and maintaining her flower gardens. She enjoyed reading Crime Mystery Novels. She leaves her family with countless memories filled with love, laughter, and kindness. Norma was the beloved wife of Robert J. Walsh of Burlington. She was the mother of Paul & his wife Christine of Holliston, MA, Denise Banks & her husband David of Fishers, IN, Marie Mansfield & her husband Kevin of Tewksbury, William of Burlington, and the late Robert. She was the sister of William Collins of Myrtle Beach, NC, Francis Collins of Derry, NH, James Collins of Windham, NH. Norma was also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, March 31 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
