Obituary of Thomas Stone
Thomas A. Stone, Jr. a resident of Burlington for 40 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Tuesday evening, January 25, 2012. The beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Donnelly) for 47 years, he was 73 years old. Tom was born, raised and educated in Cambridge. He was one of eight children born to the late Thomas and Mary Stone. Tom was in the Army Reserves until January of 1964. He worked as a Bartender at Newtowne Grill in Cambridge for over 35 years where he made many friendships. He also worked at Suffolk Downs in Boston. Tom was an avid sports fan. In his younger hears he played softball. He then formed a passion for golf. Tom followed all the Boston sports teams most especially the New England Patriots. He was a former member of the Retired Mens Club in Arlington. Tom will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Tom was the beloved husband of 47 years of Maryellen (Donnelly). He was the loving father of Patricia Lashley of NJ, Craig of Stoneham, Keith & his wife Jennifer of GA, Eric of CA, Colleen Paggi & her husband Timothy of Tewksbury, and Maureen Stone & her companion Russell Copley of Salem, NH. Twin brother of Joseph of Medford. Brother of Mary Ellen Sullivan of Natick, John of Newton, Kevin of Billerica, David of NH, Brian of Waltham and Peter of Somerville. Grandfather of Timothy Lashley, Landon Copley and Timothy & McKenzie Paggi.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128 Woburn side on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 12 Noon. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Tom’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
