Obituary of Emily E. Bieren

Emily E. Bieren leaves a legacy of family. Emily E. (Nutt) Bieren passed away at the Laconia Center in Laconia, NH after a long illness on Monday evening, August 14. She was 95 years old. She had resided in Laconia for the past 13 years and had previously resided in Bedford, MA. Emily was born in England, the daughter of the late James and Annie Nutt. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was only 8 months old and settled in Lexington, MA. Emily grew up and was educated in Lexington. She was a 1928 graduate of Lexington High School. She excelled in athletics and played basketball and field hockey in high school. She continued playing field hockey even after she was married and had a child. She loved sports. She was a Red Sox and Bruins fan. Her favorite hockey player was Terry O’Reilly. She enjoyed playing back yard games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed seeing her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participating in their sporting activities. Emily leaves behind a legacy of family. She was married at the age of 19. She had 2 sons, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was the matriarch of her family. She hosted countless family reunions and get togethers at her home in Bedford. She was blessed to have a family that enjoyed being together and to be able to see her great-great grandchildren. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Emily is the wife of the late Peter Bieren. She is the loving mother of Peter Bieren & his wife Mary Ann of Laconia, NH and William James Bieren & his wife Susan of Bedford, MA. She is the sister of Viola Semonian of Waltham and the late Estella Hagar and Elsie Rooney. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128 Woburn side) on Thursday, August 17 at Noon. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Interment in Munroe Cemetery, Lexington. Memorials in Emily’s name may be made to a charity of one’s own choice.
