Obituary of Joyce Slocomb
Joyce M. (Bayliss) Slocomb, a lifelong resident of Burlington, passed away at the Wilmington Health Care on Thursday morning, May 5, 2011. The wife of the late Frank Slocomb, she was 80 years old
Joyce was born in Somerville. She was the daughter of English immigrants the late Albert & Merriam Bayliss. Joyce was raised and educated in Burlington. Before her children were born she worked at Dale’s Pharmacy for many years. After her children were born she stayed home to raise her family. After they were grown she went on to work at Building 19 ½ for many years. She also drove a school bus for handicap children at Hanscom Air Force Base. Joyce and her husband enjoyed bowling and were on a bowling league together for many years. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery and knitting.
Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Frank Slocomb. She was the loving mother of Frank Slocomb, Jr. & his partner John Anderson of Bridgton, ME, Paul Slocomb & his wife Alicia of Burlington and Marie McCafferty & her husband David of Burlington. Grandmother of Nicole, Nate, Zachary & Jocelyn Slocomb, Michael Woodbury & his wife Melanie, Joshua, Taylor & Ethan McCafferty, and the late Lauralye Woodbury and Wesley McCafferty. Also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services were private. Memorials in Joyce’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
