Obituary of Marjorie Whelan

Marjorie M. (Mooney) Whelan, a retired Teacher in the Wilmington School System, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Friday morning, September 23, 2011. The beloved wife of 60 years of Charles E. Whelan, she was 87 years old. Marjorie was born in Quincy. She was the daughter of the late John and Rose Mooney. She was raised and educated in Weymouth. Marjorie was a graduate of Bridgewater State College. After finishing college she taught school in Weymouth. She later went on to teach grades 3 and 4 for over 20 years at the Woburn Street School in Wilmington. Marjorie and her husband settled in Burlington in 1959 where they raised their two children. Marjorie enjoyed reading and traveling. She and her husband traveled the East Coast by trailer traveling from Florida to Canada. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marjorie was the beloved wife of 60 years of Charles E. Whelan. She was the devoted mother of Kathleen Stephens & her husband Tom of IL and William & his wife Natascha of Deerfield, NH. Grandmother of Cody Whelan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Monday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours omitted. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers memorials in Marjorie’s name may be made to V.N.A. of Middlesex East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Ave., Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
