Obituary of Edgar DeCoste

Edgar “Eddie” DeCoste, served over 40 years in the Army and Navy passed away at the Woburn Rehabilitation Center in Woburn on Friday afternoon, May 13, 2011. He was 91 years old. Edgar served in both the Navy and then served in Army accumulating over 40 years of service. He held the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, the highest enlisted rank in the military. He was stationed at the Armory on Arlington Street in Boston for many years working with the Army, National Guard, and the Federal Government. Edgar was born in Somerville, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Sullivan. He grew up and was educated in Somerville. When he married his wife, they settled in Arlington to raise their family. In his younger years, he enjoyed tearing up the dance floor with his wife Claire. He was a avid reader and a talented artist. He was a gregarious individual who always had the time to spark up a conversation with a friend, neighbor, or acquaintance. He loved his family and always cherished the time they shared. Eddie was the beloved husband of the late Claire Olga (DeMatteis). He was the father of Pamela Jorgenson & her husband Kenneth of Burlington and Edgar A. DeCoste, Jr. & his wife Janet of Midlothian, TX. He was predeceased by his siblings; Joseph DeCoste, Mary Maher, and Alice Veach. He was the proud grandfather of Kara Jorgenson of Burlington. Funeral from the Edward V.
