Frederick R. DelGrosso, passed away at the Woburn Nursing Center, on Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011. The husband of the late Dorothy C. (Powers) he would have celebrated his 92 birthday on Saturday, May 21. Fred was born in Boston. He was the son of Italian Immigrants the late Joseph and Angelina DelGrosso. He was raised and educated in the North End of Boston. Fred was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Fred worked for A & P Stores as a processor on the fish piers of Boston Harbor. He enjoyed the races and following the Red Sox. Up until recent years Fred was a very independent man and would think nothing of getting in the car and driving to Florida to visit friends. He was very outgoing and social and enjoyed being with family and friends. Fred was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy C. (Powers). He was the loving father of Frederick R. Jr. & his wife Kathy of Burlington, Susan Plomin & her husband Tom of Chicago, IL, and Edward & his wife Mia of Charlotte, NC. Brother of the late Catherine Tortorice, Michael, Grace and Anthony DelGrosso. Grandfather of Katrina, Kara, Andrea & Erica DelGrosso, Timothy & Maggie Plomin. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, May 19th from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Concluding with Funeral Services at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private. Memorials in Fred’s name may be made to the VNA of Middlesex East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Ave, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
