Obituary of David Babcock
David E. Babcock, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2011. The beloved husband of Nancy (Melanson) he was 61 years old.
David was born in Ticonderoga, New York. He lived in Cambridge until the age of 9 when his family settled in Burlington where he was raised and educated. He was a 1968 graduate of Burlington High School. He went on to have a career as a Baker and a Chef. David had many interests such as coin collecting, treasure hunting with metal detectors, camping, hunting and had a great interest in paranormal activities. David and an outgoing personality and was a bit of a “jokester”. David and his family lived in Nashville, TN for 13 years but moved back to Burlington in 2008 to be closed to his mother. David will be remembered as a family man who always wanted to be with and care for his family.
David was the beloved husband of Nancy (Melanson). He was the loving father of Michael David Babcock & his wife Jennifer of Lowell, Rebekah Hope Babcock of Burlington and the late Victoria Rose Babcock. Devoted son of Mary Louise (Ingram) Babcock and the late Erland. Brother of Jean Marie Jack & her husband Ken of Springfield. Devoted grandfather of Jacob Michael Babcock of Lowell. Brother-in-law of Janet Melanson of Falmouth, Dennis Melanson and his wife Jody, Uncle of Jennifer Bonner & her husband Ron of RI and Jarrod and Soryia Melanson Also survived by many cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, July 11 at 12 Noon. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON. In lieu of flowers memorials in David’s name may be made to the Rebekah Hope Babcock Fund, C/O Century Bank, 134 Cambridge St., Burlington, MA 01803.
