Obituary of Lucy Denaro

Lucy (Spalvero) Denaro, a woman who dedicated her life to her family, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday evening, July 23, 2011. The beloved wife of Victor E. Denaro, she was 83 years old. Lucy was born in Fitchburg. She was the daughter of Italian immigrants the late Albert and Maria Spalvero. She was raised and educated in East Boston. At the age of 20 she moved to Somerville where she lived until moving to Burlington in 1967. Lucy devoted her life to providing a home for her family and raising her four children. After her children where older and in school she went to work for Internav located in Bedford for 10 years. Lucy and her husband loved to travel. They would take yearly trips to Sicily in Italy where they owned a home and where family still resided. After their retirement Lucy and her husband would spend their winters in Florida. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and they were a very important part of her life. Lucy and her husband Victor would have celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on August 29 of this year. Lucy was the beloved wife of 56 years of Victor E. Denaro. She was the loving mother of John & his wife Gia of Colchester, CT, Victor & his wife Lacey of Ashland, Marie Taylor & her husband Keith of Nashua, NH and Albert of Burlington. Sister of the late Grace Callina. Lucy was the devoted grandmother of Victoria, Joseph, Samantha, MacKenzie, Nicholas, Devin, James, Michael & David. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, July 27 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Lucy’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
