Obituary of Frank Haley

Francis “Frank” J. Haley, Jr., a man who appreciated his family, friends, coworkers, and community, passed away after a long battle with Leukemia, Thursday morning, July 28, 2011. He was 74 years old. Frank was born in Cambridge, the son of the late Francis and Dorothy Haley. He grew up and was educated in Cambridge. While attending Cambridge High and Latin School, he started dating his future Prom Date and wife, Marcia Foley. Frank had great memories of his years in Cambridge and never forgot his friends, neighbors, and classmates. He served on his High School Reunion Committee with his wife throughout his life. Frank worked as an industrial welder for much of his career. He spent almost 20 years with Laboratory For Electronics (L.F.E.) in Waltham for over 20 years. He spent the end of his career with Raytheon in Waltham working on defense projects including the Aegis Missile Program. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working part time at the Bedford Public Library. Frank had a diverse interests and activities. He enjoyed being a part of his community as a member of The Knights of Columbus, a Little League Baseball coach and Youth Hockey coach. When his sons were older, he went onto to umpire. He was always supportive of his sons and later his grandsons in their sporting endeavors. He was a big Red Sox Fan. He loved the ocean and beach with South Yarmouth and Gloucester being his favorite destinations. He was a great dancer and appreciated the Theater. He enjoyed traveling. He relished in a good game of cards or pool. He wasn’t much of a cook, but he was a great “Griller”. But most of all he loved his family and his many friends. He always had time to share with a good story, catch up on old times, or finding out what was new in your life. He will always be remembered. Frank would have celebrated his 55 wedding anniversary with his wife Marcia in September. He was the proud father of Nancy Haley-Murphy & her husband Dan of Reading, Jeffrey & his wife Sherry of Yarmouth, ME, Brian & his wife Kristen of Burlington, and Beth Minka & her husband Tom of San Rafael, CA. He had a sister; Deborah Weaver-Gourd of Beverly. He was the loving grandfather of Brendan & Ryan Murphy and Meagan & Kevin Haley. He was the uncle of Stacey Weaver of Beverly. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Aug. 1 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
