Obituary of Louis McAllister

Louis R. “Bud” McAllister, veteran of World War II and Korea, passed away at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Brighton on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2011. The beloved companion of Maria Bonfanti of Burlington, he was 83 years old. Bud was born in Winchester. He was the son of the late John and Ethel McAllister. He was raised and educated in Burlington. Bud was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. serving his country in both World War II and Korea. While serving in the Korean War he achieved the Rank of Sergeant. Bud had a long career in the Trucking Industry. He worked as a driver for Gilman’s Express in Somerville for many years until they closed. He then owed Warehouse Distributors and drove for Pastene. He was a member of the Teamsters. Bud had many interests. He was a talented woodworker and build his own home in Grafton, NH. He was a true New England Sports fan. He especially loved football and was a season ticket holder for the Patriots from 1970- 1983. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting. Bud was the beloved lifelong companion of Maria Bonfanti of Burlington. He was the brother of Jeanne McDevitt of CA, Ethel Donato & her husband Carmen of Woburn, and the late John “Sonny” McAllister and his wife Helen of Woburn. Bud is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington (Exit 34 off rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Bud’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., #501, Boston, MA 02210.
