Obituary of Yuming Hou

Yuming Hou of Lexington, a retired police officer in his home country of China, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018.  He was 66 years old.  Yuming was born in Anqing, China. The son of the late Zhenjiang Hou and Ping Liu, he grew up and was educated in the city of Hefei, located west of Shanghai.  He had a long career in law enforcement.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening. 

Yuming’s kindness and optimism enabled him to become fast friends with anyone. He was generous with all those around him: from his life experience and knowledge, to the vegetable crops from his garden or his latest catch, he shared them all with his friends and neighbors.

Yuming was devoted to his family. He spent most of his time taking care of them. After their only daughter, Lei, came to the United States in 2005 to pursue her PhD in Engineering, Yuming and his wife, Xinnian, regularly traveled to the United States to visit her.  In 2012, after his retirement, he and his wife immigrated to the United States to be closer to Lei and her family.  It gave him great joy to spend time with his grandchildren Leo and Lily every day.  Yuming is also survived by his siblings: Shuguang Hou, Xuefeng Hou, and Hongqui Liu all of China.

A Visitation will be held at the the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Saturday, November 24 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.   Words in honor of Yuming will begin at 11:00 a.m.   Relatives and friends are welcome to attend to pay their respects and share loving memories of Yuming with family members. 侯宇明，居住在美国麻州莱克星敦的居民，于2018年11月19日星期一去世，享年66岁。

侯宇明出生于中国安徽省安庆市。他是已故的侯震江和刘萍的儿子，他的姐姐侯曙光，弟弟侯雪峰，妹妹刘红旗现居住在中国。他在安徽省合肥市长大，他的职业生涯是在合肥担任警务人员。
 

侯宇明为人善良，他总是愿意帮助他的朋友，热心的向感兴趣的朋友提供他钓鱼和养花的经验，和朋友一起分享自己种的蔬菜和钓的鱼。

侯宇明乐观开朗。他知识渊博，健谈豁达，这使他有着许许多多的好朋友。这些朋友经常不断的与他用各种方式进行交流。

侯宇明热爱生活。他非常孝敬父母，他非常疼爱自己的妻子和女儿，他和他的妻子刘新年唯一的女儿侯蕾在2005年来到美国攻读工程学博士学位，他就和妻子经常到美国探望。他退休后，为了和家庭团聚，在2012年和妻子一起移民到美国居住。他很开心外孙励欧和外孙女励莉的陆续出生，很享受天伦之乐。

11月24日星期六上午10点到12点，亲戚和朋友可以在Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side)和他告别，家人和朋友将分享对宇明的美好回忆。
