Obituary of Barbara Ann Adams
Barbara Ann Adams, a resident of Burlington for 42 years, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday morning, December 16, 2018 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. She was 83 years old. Barbara’s passing marked the one year anniversary of her husband William’s passing. Barbara was born in Boston. She was one of 4 children born to George and Helen Nichols. She grew up and was educated in the Mission Hill section of Boston. She married her husband, William, on June 23rd 1957. They made their home in Cambridge for many years before settling in Burlington in 1976. She worked for 30 years as a clerk and cashier at the Building 19 ½ department store in Burlington. She enjoyed the many regular customers, her coworkers, and some of the amazing deals offered at the store.
Barbara’s real career was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked very hard to give her children some of the luxuries she went without as a child. She enjoyed family vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee, day trips with her late husband, and celebrating birthdays, holidays, and any other event her family was involved in. She was a lover of animals and always had a cat or dog. She loved testing her luck at the casino or at Bingo, but could be just as happy sitting at home and doing word puzzles. She was blessed to see her family grow with the births of 10 grandchildren and then 5 great grandchildren. She treasured simple things like sharing snacks and stories and watching cartoons with her great granddaughter Allie. It gives her family a sense of peace that both Barbara and William will be reunited in Heaven again for Christmas.
Barbara was the beloved wife of 60 years of the late William J. Adams. She was the loving mother of Donna Adams of Dracut, Mark Adams & his wife Tammy of The Villages, FL, Steven Adams & his wife Susan of Dracut, David Adams of Billerica, and Karen Santoro of Burlington. She was predeceased by her siblings; Sandra Thomas, Richard and Leonard Nichols. She was the proud grandmother of Robert, Brandon, Steven Jr., William, Shannon, Michael, Kenneth, Shawn, & Ryan Adams, and Amanda McGee and great grandmother of Rachel Chagnon, Alanisah “Allie”, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Natalie Adams. She also leaves her dear friend and neighbor Mary Saidah.
A visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and conclude with a funeral service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The interment will be private.
