Obituary of Daniel E. Harrington
Daniel E. Harrington, 59 of Lowell, MA passed away on December 20, 2018. Dan was born in Waltham, MA. He was the son of Shirley A. and Donald “Ed” Harrington. He grew up in Burlington and was a 1977 graduate of Burlington High School. Dan started his retail career at Sears and Roebuck at the Burlington Mall at age 15 working in the Catalog Department. Over the next 35+ years, he worked as a Sales Associate in the Men’s Department and by the time he ended his 35+ years with Sears, he was an Assistant Manager of the store. For Dan, Sears was much more than a job, it was a second family. He loved his Sears family and treasured the long time friendships forged with his many coworkers. Even after he retired, he regularly met with and kept in touch with many of the Sears gang. After retiring from Sears, he then worked a number of years at the Casual Male in Tyngsboro.
Dan was a very independent spirit. He loved the beach at Ogunquit. Most of his summer vacations were spent there, and if he had a day off and the sun was shining, he would take off for the day at the beach. He was passionate about staying in shape and was a regular at the gym. He had an incredible sense of humor and often came up with crazy and outlandish comments and jokes. Dan was always quite entertaining at family gatherings. He had a great adoration and respect for all his family, especially his parents. He will he deeply missed by all his family and friends, but they will be comforted knowing that Dan will be spending Christmas in heaven with his parents.
Dan was the beloved son of the late Donald “Ed” and Shirley (Grimes) Harrington. He was the loving brother of Paul E. Harrington of Billerica, and Janet M. Burke of Bedford, NH. He was the fun uncle of Holly Clauson and her husband, Gregory of Manchester, NH and Patrick Burke of Los Angeles, CA. He was the nephew of Jean Boudreau of Tilton, NH and Claire Strong of Florida.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, December 28 from 5-8pm. Graveside services will be held at Pine Haven Cemetery, Bedford St., Burlington on Saturday.
