Obituary of Midge Miller
Domenica Margaret “Midge” Miller, a retired Executive Administrator and faithful St. Malachy Church parishioner, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday morning, January 1, 2019. She was 82 years old. Midge was born in Dorchester. She was one of 8 children born to Salvatore and Stella Cardile. She grew up in Dorchester and was a graduate of the Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School. She met her future husband, Richard Miller, when they worked together at American Machine Foundry. She married Richard in July of 1957 and they settled in Burlington in 1960 to raise their family. She worked at M/A-COM for 13 years as an Executive Administrator. Then her division was spun off to Microwave Radio Corporation where she spent her last 7 years of her working career.
Midge had a strong Catholic faith and was a vibrant member of St. Malachy’s Church in Burlington. At one time or another, she was involved in almost every facet of the church. She served as President of the Morgairs, the Religious Education Administrator, Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer, conducted Bible Study classes, helped officiate the Communion Service on Thursday mornings, social events, fundraisers, and any other role which needed a helping hand. The members of St. Malachy’s Church were like a second family to Midge and she found it her special place to profess and deepen her faith over the past 50 years.
Midge also had a host of other activities, interests, and hobbies over the years. She was a member of the M/A-COM Bowling League. She was an avid reader with History and Fiction being her favorite genres. She enjoyed sewing, needle point, embroidery, crewel, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed vacations at Rangeley Lake in Maine when her children were young and in more recent years summers spent on Brandy Pond in Naples, Maine. She loved every moment shared with her children and grandchildren. As a mother, she raised her children in a home filled with faith and strong values. She had spent the past year living in Gray Maine with her son, Richard and his wife Debra. She lived with the faith and hope that at her passing her prayers would be answered as she met her Savior in Heaven.
Midge was the beloved wife of 38 years of the late Richard C. Miller. She was the loving mother of Therese Grover-Miller & her spouse Kathleen of Hampstead, NH, Richard Jr. & his wife Debra of Gray, ME and Michael of Hudson, NH. She was the proud Noni of Jason & Annelyse Miller of Maine & Richelle Miller of Townsend, Teagan "Maddie" Grover-Miller and great Noni of Henry Alan Miller. She was the sister of Nicoletta “Nicki” Scully of FL, Barbara Maitland of NH, Mary Lewis of Dorchester, John Cardile of FL, Gloria Burke of Weymouth, Annette “Netty” Cardile of Quincy, and the late Patricia Wallace. Midge was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Many of whom knew her as Noni.
