Obituary of Richard O'Hare
Richard O’Hare, a retired Electrician from Local 103, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, January 5, 2019. The beloved husband of 51 years of Carol (Hurley) he was 76 years old.
Richard was born in Somerville. He was raised and educated in Somerville. Richard and Carol were married at St. Clements Church in Medford on June 3, 1967. They moved to Burlington in 1972 where they would raise their five children.
Richard worked as an Electrical for Local 103 for over 30 years. He worked on projects at the Airport, the Boston Tunnels and the Prudential Building. He was a handy man who enjoyed finding projects to work on at his home. When they did an additional to the ranch and added a second floor Richard did all the electrical work. When Burlington High School installed the new lights on the Football field Richard donated his services for the installation.
Richard and Carol enjoyed taking bus trips throughout the States visiting Myrtle Beach, Amish Country in PA, New York, Washington DC and Bar Harbor. During the summers the family would vacation at Wyman’s Beach in Westford where Richard was an avid swimmer. In recent years they bought a Condo at Summer Village Pond in Westford (formerly Wyman’s beach). Richard will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his home and his family.
Richard leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty-one years Carol (Hurley) O’Hare and his children Maureen Tracey and her husband Kevin of Merrimack NH, Kathleen Foster of Burlington MA, Richard O’Hare of Billerica MA, Colleen McCarthy and her husband Robert of Amherst NH, and Carol Pilgrim Moore of Burlington MA. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Lauren, Nicholas, Jessica (Lou-Lou), Owen, Alex, Robert, Ryan, Matthew, Shawn, Elizabeth, and his great grandchildren Desire and Mia. Son of the late Ella May (Love) and Joseph O’Hare, Brother to Francis, Alice, Thomas, and the late Beverly, Joseph and John.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9:45 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St. Medford at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
