Obituary of Natalie Iannazzi

Natalie Iannazzi, a 60 year resident of Lexington, passed away after a long illness on Saturday afternoon, January 5, 2019 at the age of 89. Natalie was born in Jamaica Plain where she spent the first few years of her life in a multi-family home with her siblings, aunt, uncle and adored cousins. She was the daughter of Greek immigrants, Achilles and Vasiliki Varkas.

Natalie grew up and was educated in Watertown.  She then graduated from the Catherine Gibbs School.  Natalie literally married the “boy next door” when she married Paul Iannazzi!  Paul and Natalie lived in Waltham for a few years before settling in Lexington to raise their 3 daughters.  Natalie worked for 15 years at Raytheon as an administrative assistant in the Legal Department located in Lexington.  She enjoyed her working career, but much preferred being a homemaker.  Her home and her family were the center of her universe.  She ran the home, loved decorating and redecorating and adding to her collection of exquisite figurines. Over the years, Natalie and Paul hosted the holidays, as if each year was the first. Natalie loved hosting family and friends for numerous events and celebrations. Birthdays, bridal showers, christenings, milestone anniversaries and endless summer cookouts were all hosted at her Lexington home.

Natalie enjoyed summer vacations with her family on the beaches of Scituate and Rye, New Hampshire. Having spent her summers in Rye as a teen, Natalie wanted her daughters to experience the same wonderful summers that she had in Rye.

She enjoyed the comfort of her home, although she was also very sociable with a great sense of humor.  She was an avid reader.  She loved every moment she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Natalie had a wonderful life that spanned 89 years filled with joy, endless memories, laughter and most of all, love.

Natalie was the beloved wife of 67 years of the late Paul Iannazzi, who passed on in 2016.  She was the loving mother of Valerie Bellino & her husband Paul of Billerica, Paula Sheehan & her husband Frank of Berlin, and the late Angela Potter and her surviving husband Kevin Potter of Burlington. She was the proud grandmother of Paul Bellino & his wife Cindy, Noelle Sammon & her husband Jim, Kevin Potter, Jr. and Alexander Potter and the great grandmother of Mariella and Adrianna Bellino. She was the adoring sister of Effie Chiklakis & her husband George of Burlington, the late Catherine Lymneos & her late husband Anthony, and the late William Varkas & his surviving wife Beatrice of Manchester, NH. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Friday, Jan. 11 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
