Obituary of Joanne M Crecco
Joanne M. Crecco, a 54 year resident of Burlington, MA passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 81. Joanne was born in Newton, MA. She was the daughter of Arthur and Margaret Proia and the sister of Barbara Caira of Burlington, the late Arthur Proia Jr., Edward Proia, and Michael Proia. Joanne is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Joanne grew up in Newton, MA and was a graduate of Newton High School. In October of 1965, she married her late husband, Frances Crecco and they started their life together by purchasing a home in Burlington. Joanne owned and managed family businesses with her late husband such as Carroll’s Italian Grotto in Burlington, a canteen service, and Video Spectrum, a video store in Somerville, MA.
Joanne had a fiery and playful personality, which shown through in the multiple times that she dyed her hair with vibrant colors as a young adult.
Joanne liked to keep in shape by walking but she also had a sweet tooth, which was seen through her love of Boston cream donuts from Dunkin Donuts. Joanne was a devoted lover of animals, particularly concerned over the welfare of dogs and cats. She made donations to charities on a regular basis. Joanne also loved music and listened to a wide selection of genres. In the last couple years of her life, she lived in assisted living at Stonebridge and eventually was moved to the nursing home, Belmont Manor. Throughout her time in both of those places, Joanne became more engaged with life through watching live musical performances. Singing and dancing was an outlet for her, a place where she felt most comfortable and happy. Although she experienced some tough times, there was always music and family to help her through. Rest in peace Joanne Crecco.
