Obituary of Joseph Michael DeLuca

Joseph Michael DeLuca, Jr, age 24, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, March 16, 2019.  Joey had grown up in both Burlington and Woburn and had many friends from each community.  He was a 2012 graduate of Burlington High School where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball.  Sports remained a very big part of his life.  He followed college and professional sports, especially Boston teams.   He was a walking encyclopedia of facts and information.  He played in various fantasy football leagues.  He was also a bit of a collector.  He had a huge collection of sports jerseys and hats and Nike sneakers.  It seemed like he had a matching pair of shoes for every piece of his wardrobe. He had worked in the sales department of Harley Davidson of Billerica and in the shipping and receiving department of W.B. Mason.

Joey was loved more than he could ever have imagined by all his family and friends.  He leaves his mother, June Doherty & her husband Matt of Burlington, his father, Joseph DeLuca & his companion Kelly McEleney of Woburn.  He was the brother of Jordan Joyce, Jack Joyce, Sophie Joyce, Isabel Doherty all of Burlington, and the late Kayleigh DeLuca.   He was the grandson of Marie Loblundo of Tewksbury, Helen Donadio & her companion Joe DiRienzo of Burlington, Dennis and Joan Doherty of Woburn, and the late Joseph DeLuca. He was also survived by his loving girlfriend, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Thursday, March 21 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday, March 22 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with a burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.  For directions and online guestbook see www.sullivanfuneralhome.net or www.saintmargaretburlington.org.
