Obituary of Sarah B. Mervil

Sarah Barthelemy Mervil passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019.  She was 87 years old.  Sarah was born in Desdunes, Haiti.  She has been a living in Medford, Massachusetts.  Sarah was surrounded by loved ones in her final moments. In the past, she was always telling her family that she wanted to live until she was 110 years old. Right before she fell ill several weeks ago, she told one of daughters that she was looking forward to finally seeing heaven.

Anyone who knew Sarah can attest to her “spicy” personality. Feisty doesn’t even begin to describe this powerhouse of a woman! Her children, countless grandchildren and great grandchildren are a testament to what hard work, unconditional love and determination looks like in this world. She wanted her children to have what she never had.

Sarah was the loving mother of Wisland Georges of Medford, Massachusetts, Resilien Georges of Haiti, Raymonde Georges of Haiti, and Rodeline Michel of Everton, NJ.  She was also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren living in the United States and Haiti.

Funeral Services will be held at the Missionary Church of the Haitian Community, 100 Temple Street, Somerville on Saturday, April 20 at 9 a.m.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
