Obituary of Elaine G. Watters

Elaine G. Watters, a retired Lahey Clinic employee, passed away after a long illness on Thursday night, April 11, 2019.  She was 81 years old. Elaine was born in Medford.  She was the daughter of George and Gertrude Chabot.  She grew up in Winchester and was a graduate of Winchester High School.  She had worked for the Winchester School system prior to having her first child.  She then chose to stay home with her children until they were all settled in school.  She later returned to work and spent a long career working at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in their Billing Department.

Elaine married her late husband Charlie in 1970.  They shared 28 years together.  She was a homebody who was tirelessly devoted to taking care of her family.  She enjoyed tending to her home, working in her yard, and spending hours working in her flower and vegetable gardens.  She loved animals and loved seeing all the varieties of birds that visited her feeder on a regular basis. She budgeted out a portion of her weekly retirement money to buy bird seed and bread (for the birds) each week. She was a member of several bowling leagues over the years.  She was not as graceful as Ginger Rogers, but she loved to dance at weddings, parties, and around her home as she went about her chores.  She lived with her daughter Lauren and her family shortly after the passing of her husband Charlie.  She had a special connection with her grandchildren and held a significant place in their hearts.  She will be remembered for how comfortable she made others feel around her, the unassuming and genuine kindness she shared with others, and how she loved each of her family for their unique qualities and special gifts.

Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Charles F. Watters.  She was the loving mother of David Watters of East Sandwich, Lauren Durkin of Burlington, Janice Michaud of Tuftonboro, NH, Edna Bartolucci of Beverly Hills, FL, and Charles “Chuck” Watters of Milford, NH. She was the sister of George Chabot of N. Reading, Ronald Chabot of Tequesta, FL, and Carol Bond of Singer Island, FL. She was the grandmother of Charlie, Joey, & Giada Watters, Collin & Ashley Durkin, Christine Russell, Cheryl Celia, Charlene Talbot, Ken Sousa, Dawn Belt, Vincent Bartolucci, and Valerie Cavallaro.  Elaine was also survived by many great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Monday, April 15 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday April 16 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with a burial in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
