Obituary of Maurice Lacroix
Maurice “Pepe” Lacroix, a retired painter, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday morning, November 3, 2012. He was 92 years old.
Pepe was born in Lawrence the son of French Canadian immigrants, the late Omer and Lea Lacroix. He grew up and was educated in Methuen. He served honorably in the Army during WW II and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of the Occupation Medal with a German Clasp, European Middle Eastern, and African Campaign Medal with 2 Stars, The American Campaign Medal, and the combat infantry Badge. Pepe worked for Harold Doerr Painting Company for most of his career. He specialized in interior painting and had a keen eye for color. Pepe could look at a room and mix his own colors to match the décor of the room. Not only did he want his clients to be happy, but he wanted to be proud of the finished product. His pride in his workmanship gave him many loyal customers. He was always willing to share his talents with family members and friends.
The happiest day for Pepe was when he met his future wife, Dorothy, at a dance. They both were talented Ballroom dancers and they made a wonderful couple on and off the dance floor. Dorothy brightened Pepe’s world. They traveled all over the world including Ireland, Germany, France, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and around the United States. They enjoyed decorating and maintaining their home in Burlington for the past 55 years. He had his work shop and yard which always kept him busy. He and Dorothy had many happy years together.
Maurice was the beloved husband of Dorothy F. (O’Rourke-Maloney). Stepfather of James Maloney & his wife Agnes of Mystic, CT, Jean Maloney-Stewart & her husband Phil Stewart of Reading and the late John Maloney & his wife Paulette of GA. Brother of Armand of Methuen, Leo of Lawrence, Raymond of Salem, NH, Rita Rozmeck of Lawrence and the late Richard and Roland. Grandfather of Matthew Stewart of Reading and Maeghen Maloney of GA.
A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 11 a.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
