Obituary of Jeffrey Alan McCommas
Jeffrey Alan McCommas, a web designer and front-end software developer passed away suddenly on Monday April 15, 2019. He was 59 years old. Jeff was born in Scottsdale Arizona. He was the son Albert and Janet McCommas. He grew up in Scottsdale and his early years were spent with many family adventures from camping to hunting to water skiing. He loved to ride dirt bikes and basically loved anything fast. Jeff attended Coronado High School where he was a member for the marching band. He played several instruments: trumpet, drums and guitar. He had a vast taste in music ranging from Country and Classic Rock to Jazz and Classical.
It was during his high school years that Jeff started working in restaurants and discovered his love of cooking. He attended Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC where he earned his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. His favorite creations were based on South Western cuisine. Jeff worked as a chef in restaurants and hotels in many locations: Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Florida and the Carolina’s. He eventually worked for the Marriott company as the opening chef for many new hotels. It was during this time that he relocated to Boston and met his wife Alison. The two were married in 2002.
While planning their wedding Jeff played around with creating a web page so friends and family could share in the couple’s journey and this started him down a new career path. He started his own company called Level 10 Studios. He specialized in building creative front end templates for use in E-Commerce business applications. He went back to school earning his Bachelor of Science Degree from Full Sail University in Web Design and Development. He then went to work for Liaison International, Aclara Technologies and currently with Akumina in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Jeff was the type of person who was always “All in”. If he was going to do something, he wanted to master it. An example would be the game of golf. While Jeff and Alison were still dating they attended her family’s annual golf tournament on Cape Cod. Although not a golfer, Jeff participated in his first Forsythe Open coming in last place. However, he was determined to come back and win the tournament which he eventually did. He even went on to host a couple of family tournaments as a member of the Four Oak Golf Club in Dracut.
In September of 2015 Jeff suffered a massive stroke and applied the same determination to his recovery as he did to his golf game. For many, the difficulties, health effects, and mobility issues would be enough to just give up. Jeff fought back, pushed through his physical therapy, and was able to return to the career he had grown to love. Ultimately returning to school at Boston University working to obtain a master’s degree. His sudden passing was a surprise to all and leaves his family and friends with heavy hearts.
Jeff was the beloved husband of 17 years of Alison A. (Aronis) McCommas of Dracut. He was the loving son of Albert McCommas & his wife Ann of Tempe, AZ and the late Janet (Buchanan) McCommas. He was the brother of Debbie Garlock & her husband Mike of Mesa, AZ, Darla McCommas of Gilbert, AZ, and Jerry McCommas & his wife Stephanie of Littleton, CO. He was the son-in-law of Frances “Fran” Aronis of Billerica, formerly of Burlington and the late Charles Aronis and brother-in-law of Mark and Anna Aronis of Stoneham, Suzanne & Marc Stuzynski of Bedford, and Jeffrey & Rachel Aronis of Natick. Jeff was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
