Sweet Shawn,
When Janet asked if anyone wanted to share a memory I wanted to but knew I couldn’t. I wanted to remember you playing with Johnny and Justin. Johnny would say something funny and you’d say “Johnny” and laugh your sweet laugh! Playing Superman, running down the hall and leaping on the sofa. The years of hockey and the time Justin scored a goal on you! His own goalie and best friend! And then the sleep overs! Renting the latest movies and video games. The sweaty summer days playing hard and the hours in the pools! The days you were at the house for so long....you’d call me “mom....can I have a drink?”
So many wonderful memories! We loved you Shawn. You were part of us! God bless you.

To the family and dear friends of Shawn,
I am very sorry for your tragic loss. Despite just sharing 25 years of life, your expressions about Shawn’s beautiful smile, his qualities and abilities to extend beyond self with sincerity and love makes him an extraordinary young man in today’s world. The sad thing is that it came to an end much too soon. The Bible’s words of Wise King Solomon at Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us that time and unexpected events can sometimes befall us all.
Yet learning that the God of the Bible hates death, seeing it as an enemy to mankind, promises relief from its pain for those left to mourn and a fix for those who have succumbed to this enemy, should keep our hearts and minds open and renewed to what will come. May you find comfort in the Bible’s hope that one day we will see our lost loved ones again. Jesus showed how this promise is sure when he resurrected Lazarus. John 11:1-44.
Such bible truths provide us with hope and comfort as we look forward to the day when death will no longer be and those who have sadly lost their lives will be awakened onto a Paradisiac Earth, to a life free of sickness, pain, sorrow and the worries of ever dying again. This being the Creator’s original purpose, it will indeed be fulfilled. Though this wonderful Promise from the One who can and will fulfill it doesn’t take away the pain and grief of death, my wish is that it brings you peace and a future hope during this sad time.
Genesis 2:7, 8, 15; Isaiah 55:11; Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:3, 4; John 6:40;
1Corinthians 15:25, 26

Dear Brenda, Thank you for this loving sentiment. I'm sorry I didn't comment before. I just couldn't. It's been almost a year and it feels like yesterday and still doesn't feel real. Every morning I wake up and I think I'm going to see Shawn. We miss him so much. Life will never ever be the same. His paver was installed at Horn Pond on Mother's Day along with my niece Jenna Walsh. Thank you for everything you did for Shawn. Love, Sue, Mark, and Brian.
