Obituary of June Walsh
June L. Walsh, a retired executive secretary, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, November 11, 2012. She was 86 years old. June was born in Cambridge, the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Hennessy. She grew up and was educated in Winchester. She was a member of the Winchester High School Class of 1944. She worked for a number of years at John Hancock as a secretary. She then moved to Gilchrest Company, which was an upscale clothing company. She worked for Gilchrest Company as an executive secretary for 25 years.
June and George shared 60 years of marriage together. They both loved to travel. They traveled and cruised all over the world. They loved experiencing different cultures, sites, and lifestyles. They even vacationed in Russia. Aruba was one of their favorite warm weather destinations and for a while they would vacation there twice a year. She enjoyed an occasional trip to the Casino. She was an incredible shopper always on the hunt for the perfect present or deal. She had many special people in her life whom she cherished sharing her time with. She treasured going out to lunch with family and friends. She was blessed to have many caring family members and friends who filled her life with love and happiness.
June was the beloved wife of the late George C. Walsh. She was “Gammy” to Kelly and Ashley Prescott of Hudson, NH & their sons Nicholas, Alec, & Colin. She was the sister-in-law of Albert Walsh of Baltimore, MD, Ann Walsh of Dracut, and Ethel & Bill Bearisto of Waltham. She was the aunt of Kathy McCormick, Carolyn & Scott Insinga, Jeanne & Rick Leaver, Elaine & John Lyons, Janet & Jim Valliere, Karen & Keith George, Carinda & Dennis Raftery, Paul and Robert Bearisto, Mabel & John Jannini, Jim & Judy, Michael & Kate, Nan, Tim & Karen, Tom & Janine, Jeanne & Paul, Albert Jr. & Sandra, Arlene & Kevin, and Paul & Lisa Walsh. Great Aunt to many wonderful nieces and nephews with special fondness to Erin and Craig Hollingsworth, Kylie and Gary Grodecki and Princess Grace. She was the dear friend of Helena Enos and Bob & Jane Chase. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 11 a.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
