Obituary of Michael McNeil
Michael Joseph McNeil, a retired bakery salesman and merchandiser passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, September 26, 2011. He was 76 years old.
Michael was born in Boston the son of Canadian immigrants, the late Michael and Mary McNeil. He grew up and was educated in Boston. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. He started his career with Tip Top Bakery. He then worked as a LePage Bakeries as a Manager and he ended his career with Piantedosi Bakeries as a baker and merchandiser. Michael loved to work and loved his customers. In his retirement years, he couldn’t sit idle so he worked at Shaw’s Grocery Store in their bakery department up until just a few months ago.
Michael worked hard, but always made time for his family. He traveled extensively with his wife to exotic destinations including Russia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and the Caribbean. Family vacations were always important, especially the annual trip to Lincoln, NH. It was those vacations that he shared his passion for fishing with his children and grandchildren. Michael’s family and extended family were always his first priority and it was common for him to give a call, email, or Facebook a family member locally or in Canada to just catch up with their current events in their lives. He leaves his family with lasting memories.
Michael was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Vaughn) McNeil. He was the loving father of Michael, Jr. of Billerica, Maureen Kozachuk & her husband Kevin of Woburn, David & his wife Jessy of Burlington, Lori Brazee of Burlington and Paul & his wife Mary of Oakham. He was the brother of “Jake” John Mann of Braintree and the late Anna Peck and Robert McNeil. He was the proud grandfather of Robert & Thomas Brazee, Kelsey, Derek, Cameron, Jake Kozachuk and Samuel & Rachel McNeil. He was the special Uncle of Donna Kelley and Richard Picardi. He was also survived by other many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128,Woburn side) on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
