I was so sorry to learn of Helen's passing. I was a sophomore at M.H.S. when she was a senior and I had a terrific crush on her, She was a joy to be around and I can recall the many times we walked home to her grandmothers house together. I have never forgotten her and it was years later that I realized she was my very first love. I only knew her as an outstanding young woman but I know she must have been a great mother and grandmother. I know she will always be missed and I will always have fond memories of the time we spent together.

Helen was our surrogate mother, neighbor of many years, our mentor but mostly our friend. Her garden of morning glories and other plants made us smile all summer. Her resilience to keep all the leaves out of the yard each fall was inspiring. Her love of puzzles took over her dining room table all the time.
Our favorite memory of John and Helen together was watching Helen picking up leaves around the yard and putting them into a barrel. Then John came out to take one side of the barrel to help Helen bring it to the curb,
They always did things together and are back together again watching over all of us.

My sister Helen was a gentle and kind person who approached life with a quiet enthusiasm for everyone’s plans and interests. Within Helen’s life there was also a quiet sense of humor that made her a pleasure to be with at all times. She will be missed.

I was so blessed to have Aunt Helen as an unconditional supporter throughout my life. From my youthful days when she provided a safe haven on Beaverbrook Road to my adulthood when she welcomed my family, Dianne and Julia, into her life with joyous love. To say that my life was made fuller by Aunt Helen’s faithful presence is an understatement. I will be eternally grateful for the gift of Aunt Helen in my life.
