Obituary of Joan Frances Lloyd
Joan Frances Lloyd, a woman who was born with Cerebral Palsy and lived a life filled with family and love passed away on Monday morning, Nov. 19 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was 65 years old.
Joan was a special gift to her family and brought her family closer together through her simple innocence. She was the center of her mother’s universe and gave purpose and meaning to her life. Her mom went to get her Masters in Special Education and taught at both the Children’s Hospital Cerebral Palsy School in Wellesley and the Cotting School in Boston while Joan was a student. It was the same devotion from the rest of her family and friends. Joan was so sweet and loveable and appreciated by everyone in her life. She loved going out in the van for lunch, shopping, or just a long ride. It wasn’t unusual to have her van filled with aunts and cousins enjoying a day together. There were family cruises, road trips to as far as Mississippi, and vacations at Hampton Beach, and Hyannis. She was a “Party Girl” always happy to celebrate a birthday, holiday or special event. She loved TV Westerns, Musicals, and parades. She had Aunts, Uncles, friends, and first, second, third, and fourth cousins who smothered her with love and in doing so united her family and extended family in a strong union filled with love and concern for Joan and each other. Joan touched the hearts of her family and friends and her smile and laugh will forever remain in their hearts and memories.
Joan was the dearly loved daughter of Eleanor (Duncan) Lloyd of Burlington and the late George Lloyd. She was the niece of June Ryan of Burlington and the late Jack Ryan, Irene & Edward Curtis, Mary & Joshua Bennett, Alice Duncan, and Frances & Lawrence Hayward. She was the cousin of Walter Bennett & his wife Dorothy of Burlington, Mary McGinn & her husband Paul of Burlington, John Bennett & his wife Cheryl of FL, Alice Rodrigues & her late husband Roger, and the late Joshua Bennett & his late wife Lucy and the late William Nielson, Carol Cleaves of Burlington, and Edna Modica & her husband Anthony of Burlington.
