Obituary of Maryellen Stone

Maryellen (Donnelly) Stone, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.  The beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Stone, Jr. she was 73 years old.

Maryellen was born and raised in Arlington.  She was one of 7 children born to the late John J. and Frances I. Donnelly.  Maryellen was a graduate of Arlington High School.  It was while in high school and working at the local Brigham’s restaurant that she would meet her future husband Thomas A. Stone, Jr.   They married and settled in Burlington in 1973 where they would raise their six children.

Maryellen was the ultimate homemaker and mother. She was a stay at home while her children were young.  She warmly welcomed her nieces, nephews and all her children’s friends into her home. Maryellen had a caring and loving nature and always put the needs of others ahead of her own.  When her children where young the Stone family enjoyed family vacations at Hampton and Salisbury Beaches.   In later years Maryellen and Tom enjoyed taking cruises.

After her children were grown Maryellen went to work at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. She started her career in the housekeeping department and ended her over 20-year career as a Supervisor in the Medical Records Department.   Maryellen was an avid walker and living right across the street from the Hospital made it an easy commute for Maryellen just walking across the street!

Four years ago Maryellen moved to Dracut to live with her daughter Colleen and her family. She loved her new home and having her family and grandchildren so close to her.  Maryellen will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who always had a happy personality and a smile on her face!

Maryellen was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Stone, Jr.  Loving mother of Dawn Lashley & her spouse Donna Peak of NJ, Craig of Tewksbury, Keith & his wife Jennifer of GA, Eric of CA, Colleen Paggi & her husband Timothy of Dracut and Maureen Stone & her late companion Russell Copley of Dracut.   Proud grandmother of Timothy Lashley, Landon Copley and Timothy, Jr.& McKenzie Paggi.  Sister of Cathy Daniels of Stoneham, Deborah Kollodge of OR, Maureen Gallant of OR, Terrance Donnelly of NH and the late John & Stephen Donnelly.  Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, Nov. 29 from 4-7 p.m.  Funeral from the Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 9 a.m.  Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m.  Burial to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Maryellen’s name may be made to Floating Hospital For Children at Tufts Medical Center, 800 Washington St., Boston, MA 02111  www.floatinghospital.org
