Obituary of Ruth Pyburn
Ruth Pyburn, a woman who always placed her family and her faith first passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2019. She was 93 years old. Ruth was born in Woburn. She was one of 4 children born to George and Margaret Currier. She grew up in Somerville and spent her summers in Woburn. She had many fond memories of her childhood friends swimming and skating on Horn Pond. She worked for a number of years at Dolan and Jenner in Winchester as a fibro optics assembler. She married her husband, Herbert Pyburn, the love of her life on January 1, 1951. They lived in Somerville and later Woburn for 32 years. Ruth wanted to be the best wife and mother she could be. She invested her love, sense of humor, and a deep faith in God in her family.
Ruth’s faith was something she loved deepening, professing, and sharing with others. Ruth was a member of several churches during her lifetime. Her bubbly loving approach made her a greeter at each church. She was blessed to go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with fellow church members. She tried to live her faith every day by being authentic in her actions and interactions, sharing her gifts, and being thankful for all the blessings bestowed upon her, her family, and friends.
Ruth had several interests, hobbies, and activities that she enjoyed. She was a ferocious reader. She loved reading the Bible, historical novels, and anything else that piqued her interest. She spent endless hours establishing, maintaining, and improving her flower gardens. She was a talented seamstress and could upholster furniture as well. She loved the seashore and would take daily rides to the ocean to walk the beach and admire the surf. She loved going on family vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee, Amelia Island, and numerous other destinations. Her most favorite hobby was her family whom she adored.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Pyburn. She was the loving mother of Gail Sicard & her husband Edward of Alton, NH, Lianne Fratus of Amesbury, Leslie Welch & her husband Larry of North Andover, and the late Sandra Gagnon and her surviving husband William of Nashua, NH. She was predeceased by her siblings; Ann Pignato, George and William Currier. She was the proud grandmother of Mark & Sean Sicard, Christian Malone, Devin & Kyle Fratus, Carolyn Fournier, Caitlin Brown, Colleen Pineau, and Jesse Welch.
