Obituary of Richard Peter Williams

Richard Peter Williams, a manager at several Volvo dealerships, passed away on Tuesday December 17,2019. He was 77 years old. Richard grew up in Arlington and was a 1959 graduate of Arlington High School. He enlisted in the Air Force shortly after high school and served for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He held the rank of Airman Second Class and was honorably discharged in in June of 1964. He got into the automobile industry with his first job at Belmont Volkswagen. He loved working in the auto industry and found his specialty was not as a salesman, but rather service manager specializing in warranties. His next position was with Boston Volvo and he ended his career at 128 Volvo in Wakefield. Working for Volvo offered Richard and his wife, Emily, several opportunities to travel to Sweden to see the manufacturing side of the business and do some sightseeing. These trips were more appreciated by Emily who was the more spontaneous and adventurist of the couple. Richard happily indulged her travel bug going of vacations to Italy and road trips all over New England. They were married in 1966 and had raised their 2 children in Billerica before moving to Arlington to care for Emily’s mother and then Haverhill 15 years ago. When Emily passed 9 years ago, a part of Richard went with her. He still had his favorite sports teams; Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, and the Cowboys, but without his soulmate and inspiration he was lost. His grandchildren whom he cherished and adored filled some of that void. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Emily C. (Brillante) Williams. He was the father of David Williams, Esquire of Nevada and Diane Cameron of Burlington. He was the proud grandfather of Sarah & Matthew Cameron. He was the brother of Virginia Keenan & her husband Richard of Woburn, Donald DeCapot & his wife Carol of Londonderry, NH and Sheila Bosworth & her husband William of FL. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
