Obituary of Elizabeth Ferranti

Elizabeth Ferranti, a retired supervisor at Little Brown Publishing in Waltham, passed away after a lengthy illness in Mesa, Arizona on Saturday, November 24, 2012. She was 87 years old. Elizabeth was born in Somerville, the daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Gaetano and Rita Bottiglio. She grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She married Gaetano Ferranti and they eventual settled in Burlington in 1961. Living in Burlington was quite a bit different from living in the city. She would always joke with her family and friends in Somerville that they should come visit her “Out in the Country”. Elizabeth made her home a warm and inviting place for her family and friends as well as her children’s friends. Her home was the site of countless gatherings set around her dining room table or poolside. Elizabeth and her family loved to play cards together. She was a fantastic cook and Sunday dinners were a must in her home. She had worked at Little Brown Publishing in Waltham for 17 years. Her coworkers were also friends and they remained close long after their retirements. Elizabeth loved to dance and as soon as the music started playing, she headed straight to the dance floor. Her other interests include crosswords and crocheting. She loved being in the sun and warm weather, which was part of decision to spend the last 7 years in Mesa, Arizona. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family. Elizabeth was the wife of 55 years of the late Gaetano Ferranti. She was the loving mother of Judith Follett & her husband William of Mesa, AZ, Guy Ferranti & his wife Linda of North Andover, and the late Adrina Goodwin and mother-in-law of Donald Goodwin of Biddeford, ME. She was the sister of Anthony Bottiglio of Belmont, ME, Benedict Bottiglio of Saugus, the late Elvira Patti, Virginia Abramo, Aldo and Augustine Bottiglio. She was the proud grandmother of Billy & David Follett, Lisa Hudson, Renee Gilmartin,. Katie Sterner, Kelly, Keith, & Ken Goodwin, Stephanie and Jessica Cafarella. She was also survived by 11 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, November 30 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Elizabeth’s name may be made to Sunrise Health and Hospice Care, 1840 University Drive, Mesa Arizona 85230 .
