Obituary of Patricia Rose Westwater

Patricia Rose (Busa) Westwater passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, on Tuesday evening, January 7, 2020, with her five children by her side. The beloved wife of the late Robert F. Westwater, she was 84 years old. Pat was born in Arlington. She was one of 8 children born to the late Gaetano and Pasqualina Busa. Pat was raised on the family farm off Wyman Street in Woburn. The farm grew vegetables and flowers that were sold at the markets in Boston. All the Busa children worked on the family farm and at the age of 7 Pat would meet her future husband Bob Westwater. Bob was a friend of her brother David and worked on the farm as well. They married in 1955 when Pat was just 20 years old. In 1968, they purchased their home on Virginia Road in Burlington where they would raise their five children. Pat was a stay at home mom while her children were growing up. When they were older she went to work with her husband Bob at Atlantic Refrigeration in Wilmington, MA. She worked as their Office Manager for over 20 years. Pat’s life revolved around her family. Pat and Bob had a wonderful life together. They were more than husband and wife, they were best friends. They were married 52 years when Bob passed away in 2008. She was a loving and supportive mother and was a role model for her children. The Westwater family and their huge extended family just enjoyed being together. Sunday get-togethers were an important ritual for the family. This past Thanksgiving was an example of the importance of family to Pat as over 40 gathered to celebrate the holiday. Pat was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews. She was always there for them and always made sure she had their favorite foods stocked. Pat loved people and treated everyone like they were family. She was proud to see her five children marry and have families of their own. Pat was devoted to her 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and made sure they all felt special to her in their own individual unique ways. She was a quiet and gentle woman that people just gravitated to. She was always interested in hearing about you and what was going on in your life. As a testament to the truly unique and special woman that Pat was, during her last days at Lahey Hospital the many doctors and nurses that had treated Pat throughout the years with her health struggles came to visit her. They all wanted to express to Pat how special she was to them. As one doctor said to Pat’s children “Your mother taught us how to live and love life”. Pat was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Westwater. She was the loving mother of Cathleen & her husband Gary Roberts of Wilmington, Dale & her husband Dana Wogan of Tewksbury, Marcia & her husband Robert Jones of Wilmington, Robyn & her husband Thomas Miliano of Burlington, and Robert P. & his wife Suzanne of Attleboro. Pat was the proud Nana of Bobby and his wife Sheena, Lena and her husband Wayne, Brian and his wife Connie, Krista and her husband Joe, Michael, Jessica, Alex and his wife Michelle, Josh, Stephanie, Zachary, Emily, Olivia, Cecelia Jane, Emelia, Derek, Victoria, Saesha and Jacob. She was also Great grandmother of Layla, Jaxson, Jack, Lexi, Harper, Evan, Joey, Harry, Madelyn, Johnny and Ella. Sister of the late Edith Larsen, Anthony, Martha, Joseph, Alfred, David & Gaetano Busa.
